In short

Harrods Health makes private-label shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion and hand wash for Vancouver, Whistler and British Columbia properties, in dispensers, 5 L refills, tubes and minis, with bilingual labels printed in-house. Shipments usually arrive through a West Coast port, and your BC importer handles Health Canada notification and customs with the data we supply.

This page covers British Columbia. For national rules and the other regions, see our Canada hotel amenities hub.

City, mountain, coast and island

British Columbia packs several hotel markets into one province. Downtown Vancouver and the airport area run on business, cruise and international leisure travel. Whistler and the interior ski towns swing between full winters and busy summers. Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands have inns, resorts and B&Bs. The Okanagan has wine-country stays. Along the north coast and in Haida Gwaii, fishing lodges are reached by float plane or boat, and stock arrives once or twice a season.

Buyers include hotel groups and management companies, resort operators, independent owners and hospitality suppliers in the Lower Mainland who serve the rest of the province.

Property type Formats often chosen What matters most
Vancouver city and airport hotels Wall dispensers with 5 L refills Fast turns, low waste, steady supply
Whistler and interior ski resorts Dispensers, rich body lotion, conditioner Dry skin and hair after skiing, condo-style units
Island inns, B&Bs and wine-country stays Branded tubes, small dispensers A sense of place, short runs
Remote coastal and fishing lodges Refills and sturdy dispensers Weight, breakage, a full season of stock

Climate: wet coast, cold mountains

The coast is mild and damp, which is hard on paper labels and cartons in storerooms. The mountains and the interior get real winter cold, and anything stored in an unheated ski-resort warehouse or shipped up a highway in January can freeze. Lotions and conditioners are emulsions and may separate after a freeze. We choose label stock for damp storage, plan freeze protection for winter deliveries and recommend heated storage on arrival. Ski resorts that hold a full winter of stock often take a pre-season delivery in autumn, before mountain roads and storerooms turn cold.

Scent briefs for British Columbia

West Coast buyers often want scents that reflect the setting: forest and cedar-inspired notes, rain-fresh greens, sea air and mountain herbs. Resorts may want something warmer for winter. We develop signature scents and keep one profile across shampoo, shower gel, lotion and hand wash.

Dispensers, packaging and claims

Many BC properties have already moved to dispensers and refills. That is a voluntary choice: the federal single-use plastics regulations cover six categories and do not list hotel toiletry bottles, though municipal or provincial rules can differ, so check locally. British Columbia has run a producer responsibility program for packaging for many years, which can place obligations on brand holders or importers. Ask your importer how it applies to amenities.

If you make environmental claims, such as recyclable bottles or lower plastic use, the federal Competition Act expects product claims to be backed by adequate testing. We can supply packaging material details to support accurate wording.

Who does what on a BC order

Your BC importer or distributor normally files the Cosmetic Notification Form with Health Canada within 10 days after the first sale, acts as importer of record and appears as the dealer on the label. We supply the formula, the INCI list, manufacturing documents and, on request, dermatological test reports, and we check formulas against the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist. Labels carry mandatory information in English and French with metric net quantity. Our hand wash is a cosmetic cleanser: antibacterial or antiseptic claims would need an NPN or DIN, and we do not make hand sanitizer. Halal documentation is available if a property asks for it.

Getting product to British Columbia

Shipments from India to BC usually arrive through a West Coast port, which also suits properties in Alberta served by rail inland. Your importer of record and customs broker handle the CBSA entry and CARM accounting, and GST is generally payable on import. We ship on treated wood packaging that meets the international standard. Hotel Toiletries for Vancouver, Whistler and BC FAQ

Q.Which formats suit Whistler ski resorts?

Wall dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, plus a richer body lotion for dry winter skin. 5 L refills keep housekeeping simple in condo-style units.

Q.Are hotel miniatures banned in British Columbia?

The federal single-use plastics rules do not list hotel toiletry bottles. Some municipalities have their own bylaws on single-use items, so check locally. Many BC hotels have moved to dispensers voluntarily.

Q.How do you ship to a fly-in fishing lodge?

We ship to your importer or distributor in BC, who arranges the final leg. Sturdy dispensers and refills cut weight and breakage. Plan the delivery early so stock is not stuck in cold transit.

Q.Who files the Health Canada notification for a BC range?

The manufacturer or importer must notify. In practice your Canadian importer or distributor usually files, using the formula and INCI information we supply.

Q.Do BC labels need French?

Yes. Federal rules require mandatory cosmetic label information in English and French across Canada. We print bilingual labels in-house.
