The ASEAN cosmetic framework in brief
ASEAN member states have adopted the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive, which harmonises how cosmetics are defined, notified, labelled and monitored. In general terms it works like this:
- Notification, not pre-approval. Each product is notified to the national authority before it is placed on the market, rather than licensed in advance.
- A local responsible company. The notification is made by a company based in that country, usually your importer, distributor or the hotel group's local entity. An overseas manufacturer cannot normally notify on its own.
- A Product Information File. The responsible company must be able to produce a technical file covering formula, safety, manufacturing and claims. We supply the manufacturer's sections.
- Shared ingredient rules and labelling. Ingredients are checked against common annexes of prohibited and restricted substances, and labels carry set information, often with a local-language element.
Procedures, fees and timelines still differ by country, and rules change. Always confirm current requirements with your importer, the notification holder or a local regulatory consultant before you order.

Halal, humidity and scent
Halal matters most in Malaysia and Indonesia and is appreciated by Muslim guests across the region. Our facility is Halal certified; ask your importer whether our certifying body is recognised in the destination country, because recognition rules differ.
Heat and humidity are the other constant. Stock may sit in warm warehouses, travel on open trucks or live in an open-air villa bathroom. We can run stability checks at elevated temperature on your chosen formula in its final pack, and advise on closures and label materials that cope with tropical conditions.
On scent, regional favourites include lemongrass, ginger, jasmine, frangipani, coconut and pandan, usually in fresh, clean blends that suit a hot climate. Treat these as starting points; we will sample whatever fits your brand.
Shipping from India
Goods travel by sea from Indian ports to each country's main gateway, then onward by road or domestic freight. Air freight suits samples and urgent top-ups.
