Thailand's hotel and spa landscape

Thai hospitality runs on two tracks. Bangkok has a deep base of city and business hotels, serviced apartments and conference properties, where guests stay a few nights and expect reliable, well-presented bathroom amenities. The beaches and islands, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi and beyond, are resort country: villas, pool suites and wellness retreats where the bathroom is part of the experience.

Running through both is Thailand's spa and massage culture. Many properties have a treatment room or a full spa, and guests notice when the shower gel in the room echoes the oil used in the massage. Notification with the Thai FDA

Thailand applies the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive through its own cosmetic law, administered by the Thai Food and Drug Administration. In general terms:

• Each product is notified before it is sold or supplied, by a company registered in Thailand. For imported goods that is usually the importer or distributor.
• The notifying company keeps a Product Information File. We provide the formula, specifications, manufacturing details and certificates it needs from the manufacturer.
• Ingredients are checked against the ASEAN annexes. Some preservatives and fragrance allergens carry limits or labelling triggers, so share your target ingredient list early.
• Products sold in Thailand are commonly required to carry key label information in Thai. Many brands use a bilingual pack or a Thai sticker; agree the approach with your importer.

Keep pack wording cosmetic. Words that suggest treating a skin or scalp condition can raise questions at notification or move a product outside the cosmetic category, so agree claims with your importer before artwork is signed off.

Rules and online procedures are updated from time to time. Always confirm current requirements with your importer, notification holder or a Thai regulatory consultant.

Heat, humidity and island logistics

A villa bathroom with an open-air shower is a tough place for a cosmetic. Heat can thin a lotion, and humidity can lift labels and blur print. We can run stability checks on your formula in its actual pack, choose closures that seal well, and recommend label materials that stay legible when wet.

If your property runs a spa menu, tell us which treatments you offer and how the oils are used. A massage oil for long Thai-style or aromatherapy treatments needs a different feel and glide from one used for short foot or shoulder rituals, and we will suggest bases and scent strengths to match.
