A market of many property types

UK hospitality runs from large city hotels and airport properties to country-house hotels, coaching inns, pubs with rooms, bed and breakfasts and a growing serviced-apartment sector. Demand is spread across the year: London and the regional cities trade steadily, while coastal and rural properties peak in summer and at holidays. That mix shapes what each property orders.

Who buys, and how

UK buyers include hotel group procurement teams, management companies running several brands, independent owners and hospitality distributors that supply many small properties. Distributors often prefer a core range in two or three scents; groups more often want a signature fragrance and branded bottles. We can work either way, and MOQs are quoted per item.

Scents British guests reach for

A temperate, often damp climate suits fresh, herbal and botanical scents: bergamot, lavender, mint, rosemary, green tea, fig and soft woods are common briefs. Country-house hotels often lean towards garden-inspired or gently smoky notes. Richer body lotions are welcome in winter. We can match a brief or develop a signature scent, then carry it into lobby and washroom hand wash.

UK cosmetics rules after Brexit

Great Britain applies its own version of the cosmetics rules, based on the retained Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 as amended. Products placed on the GB market need a UK-based Responsible Person, a product information file with a safety assessment, and notification through Submit Cosmetic Product Notification (SCPN) before sale. Labels must be in English.

We are not a UK Responsible Person. Your hotel group, importer, distributor or a service provider takes that role. We supply the INCI ingredient list, formula information and manufacturing documentation, and formulas can be supplied as dermatologically tested with reports on request.

Northern Ireland is different: it may follow EU cosmetics rules, which would mean an EU Responsible Person and CPNP notification. Check the current position before you supply properties there.

Waste and packaging

Many UK hotels have already moved bathrooms to dispensers to cut single-use plastic. The EU's PPWR does not apply in Great Britain, but UK packaging rules, including producer responsibility and plastic packaging tax, may affect the business that imports filled packaging. Ask your importer or adviser how they apply to you. Our custom packaging team makes and decorates dispensers and refill containers in-house.

Shipping to the UK

Orders usually travel by sea to a major port on the east or south coast, such as Felixstowe, Southampton or London Gateway. The importer of record needs a GB EORI number and clears goods with a customs broker; the Incoterm in your contract decides who pays freight, insurance and duty. How a UK order usually runs

Most projects start with a brief on formats, scents and branding, followed by samples for housekeeping and guest feedback. Once artwork is approved in English, we pass the INCI list and manufacturing documents to your Responsible Person so the safety assessment and SCPN notification can be completed while we produce. Planning it this way means stock can go into rooms soon after it clears customs.
