In short
Vietnamese hotels and resorts can source private-label toiletries from India, provided a Vietnamese company notifies each product with the Drug Administration of Vietnam before sale and a Vietnamese-language label is applied. Harrods Health manufactures the products and supplies the manufacturer's documents your importer needs.
Vietnam's growing hotel landscape
Vietnam's hospitality sector has developed quickly along its long coastline and in its two main cities. Da Nang and Hoi An, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and other coastal areas have seen many new resorts, from beachfront hotels to villa complexes. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have a broad mix of business hotels, serviced apartments and boutique properties.
Newer properties often face a choice early on: commit to a branded amenity programme from opening, or start with generic products and upgrade later. Private label from opening day avoids a second changeover and lets a new resort build its identity around one scent.
In the cities, serviced apartments and long-stay properties have different needs from overnight hotels. Guests use more product over a longer stay, so larger bottles, 2-in-1 formats and dispensers refilled from 5 L cans tend to work better than minis. Groups opening several properties can share one formula range with different branding for each.
Cosmetic notification in Vietnam
Vietnam applies the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive, with notification of imported cosmetics handled by the Drug Administration of Vietnam under the Ministry of Health. In general terms:
- Each product is notified before it is placed on the market, by a company in Vietnam, typically the importer or distributor.
- The notifying company holds the Product Information File; we supply the formula, specifications and manufacturing documents.
- Importers are commonly asked for supporting papers from the manufacturer, such as a letter of authorisation and, in some cases, a certificate of free sale or similar evidence. We will prepare what your importer requests where we can.
- A Vietnamese-language label, often applied as a supplementary sticker, is commonly required for products sold in Vietnam.
Keep claims cosmetic and consistent between the original pack and the Vietnamese label, as mismatches can cause problems at inspection. Procedures are updated from time to time. Always confirm current requirements with your importer, notification holder or a Vietnamese regulatory consultant.
Matching formats to Vietnamese properties
| Property type | Formats that usually suit | Points to plan |
|---|---|---|
| New coastal resort | Minis, dispensers, signature scent, massage oils | Branding ready for opening |
| Villa complex | Larger bottles, body lotion, 5 L refills | Family stays, refill routine |
| City business hotel | Dispensers, 5 L refills, hand wash | Consistent replenishment |
| Boutique or budget hotel | Sachets, 2-in-1, tubes | Low cost per use |
Climate and scent
Vietnam spans very different climates, from the cooler, more seasonal north to the hot, humid south. Coastal resorts add salt air and strong sun. We recommend stability checks on your formula in its final pack, and closures and labels that tolerate humid bathrooms. On scent, lemongrass, ginger and fresh green citrus suit a tropical resort, while lotus-inspired or jasmine notes give a softer feel. We will sample a few directions for your team to compare in a real bathroom, under the lighting and ventilation guests will actually experience.
Resorts with spas can add our massage oils in the same fragrance as the room range.
Shipping to Vietnam
Sea freight from India to southern Vietnam commonly arrives at Cat Lai in Ho Chi Minh City; northern deliveries usually route through Hai Phong. Central coast resorts may be served from either, depending on your forwarder. See fulfilment and export for the documents we prepare.
