Rules to raise with your importer

• The mandatory cosmetics ingredient labelling standard requires INCI names, generally in descending order. Whether complimentary amenities are exempt is not clear-cut, so check before you print.
• We position hand wash as a cosmetic and avoid antibacterial claims, which can bring a product under Therapeutic Goods Administration rules.
• Environmental claims must not mislead under Australian Consumer Law; the ACCC has published guidance on them.
• Several states are phasing out single-use plastics, and some have signalled that small hotel toiletry bottles may be included. Check current New South Wales rules before committing to minis.
