In short
Harrods Health makes private-label shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion and hand wash for Maldives resorts, liveaboards and amenity distributors, in minis, tubes, sachets, dispenser bottles and 5 L refills. We ship from India towards Malé, and your importer and logistics partner move the goods on to each island by boat or seaplane.
This page covers what makes the Maldives different. For the regional picture, start with our Maldives and Sri Lanka hub; for the product overview, see hotel toiletries.
One island, one resort
Most Maldivian resorts sit on an island of their own. That shapes amenity buying in three ways. First, there is no nearby shop to cover a shortfall, so planning matters more than unit price. Second, store-room space is finite and often hot. Third, every carton travels at least twice: once to Malé, then again by boat or seaplane. Robust outer cartons, clear labelling by SKU and sensible pack counts all reduce handling on the jetty.
Overwater villas and guest expectations
Guests often arrive after a long journey and expect the bathroom to feel as considered as the view. Amenities are part of that impression. Resorts typically want:
- A signature scent that guests connect with the island
- Tactile packaging and clean, legible branding
- Generous formats in villas, and practical dispensers in staff and public areas
- Formulas that feel comfortable after sun, salt water and pool water
Fresh, marine and light coconut scents are a common choice, though many resorts deliberately pick something less expected. We develop signature scents and print your branding on bottles, tubes and cartons.
Liveaboards and smaller boats
Liveaboard dive and cruise boats have far less storage than a resort. Wall-mounted dispenser bottles topped up from 5 L refills save space and cut down on small bottles. Sachets can suit day boats, but they create waste that the crew has to carry back to shore.
Plastic reduction
The Maldives has been phasing out certain single-use plastic items, and many resorts run their own waste-reduction targets on top of that. Which items and dates apply is a question for your importer or a local adviser, because the list has changed over time. In practice, resorts are moving towards dispenser bottles refilled from bulk, fewer minis and less plastic in public areas. Our guide on reducing single-use plastic in hotel amenities goes into the options.
| Format | Where it fits in the Maldives | Watch-outs |
|---|---|---|
| Minis and tubes | Villas where a resort keeps a traditional set-up | Plastic rules and waste removal from the island |
| Dispenser bottles | Villas, spa, gym, staff housing, liveaboards | Hygiene routine for refilling |
| 5 L refills | Bulk supply for dispensers | Store-room heat and decanting practice |
| Sachets | Day boats, back-up stock | Hard to recycle; often avoided |
Spa culture
Many resorts treat the spa as a reason to book. We manufacture spa massage oils as well as bathroom liquids, so the villa and the treatment room can share a scent. See massage oil manufacturing.
Import basics
Goods are cleared by an importer of record in the Maldives. The Maldives Food and Drug Authority is the body most often named for health-related imports; ask your importer whether and how it applies to cosmetics and toiletries at the time you order. English labelling is standard in the resort trade, but check locally whether any additional language or wording is needed. As a Muslim-majority country, the Maldives is a market where Halal certification is widely expected, and Harrods Health is Halal certified. See our certifications.
Tropical storage
Stock may sit in a warm store room for months. Ask for evidence of how a formula and pack hold up in heat and humidity, keep cartons off the floor, and rotate stock first in, first out. Formulas can be supplied as dermatologically tested, with test reports on request.
Shipping
Malé is a short sea route from Indian ports. We pack for export and prepare documents for your forwarder; timing depends on sailings, season and clearance, so we agree a plan per order. Read more on fulfilment and export, browse the hotel amenities range, or compare the Sri Lanka market. For groups that also run properties further east, see South-East Asia.
The minimum order is quoted per item. Send us your formats and approximate volumes and we will come back with samples and a quotation.

Hotel Amenities Supplier for Maldives Resorts FAQ

Goods are shipped from India to Malé, cleared by an importer of record, then moved to each island by boat or seaplane. Your local logistics partner handles the final leg.
Q.Do Maldives resorts still use minis?
Some do, but many are moving to dispenser bottles refilled from bulk. The Maldives has been phasing out certain single-use plastics, so confirm current rules with your importer before choosing formats.
Q.Which authority regulates cosmetics imports in the Maldives?
The Maldives Food and Drug Authority is the body usually named for health-related imports. Ask your importer how its requirements apply to toiletries when you order, as rules change.
Q.Can you supply liveaboard boats?
Yes. Liveaboards often prefer wall-mounted dispenser bottles topped up from 5 L refills, which saves storage space and reduces small-bottle waste.
Q.Can amenities match our spa treatments?
Yes. We manufacture spa massage oils as well as bathroom liquids, so the villa and the treatment room can share one signature scent.
